Epirus lies on the Northwestern part of Greece, it spreads from the Ionian Sea to the boarders of Macedonia & Thessaly, a very large part of land covering everything one would want to see, from amazing seaside areas with turquoise waters such as Sivota & Parga to tall green mountains and canyons with little beautiful stone built villages such as Zagoria.
On the mainland of Epirus which is truly unexplored by most people with little picturesque mountain villages or the larger town of Ioannina built around a breathtaking lake. In mainland Epirus one can find unending beautiful mountains, forests, rivers & lakes all full of life and rare species of the animals and plants many of which are endangered species & protected!
The Western part of Epirus is on the Ionian Sea shores which have some of the best beaches in Greece but also some of the most beautiful seaside towns such as Parga, Sivota & Preveza which are more known to the wider public. The shores of Epirus are become more known every year due to the beauty and peace one can find here. One can find beautiful organized beaches with all comforts many of which have also been awarded with the "Blue Flag", or just isolated little beaches far from the crowds.

The History of Epirus dates back to 300 BC when is was ruled by Pyrrhus of Epirus.
During the Roman Empire it was province in the Roman Empire Between 146 BC and 395, it was incorporated into the Roman province of Macedonia.The capital of Epirus vetus was Nicopolis, a city founded by Octavian in memory of his victory over Antony and Cleopatra at Actium. One of the greatest and most known battles in ancient history!

Later in the Byzantine era it also played a signifant role called the Despotate or Principality of Epirus. Finally it came under the Ottoman Empire which has left its mark all around Epirus but especially in the City of Ioannina!

Epirus is such a vast area which has many different things which should be seen. From the beaches on the Ionian Shores, to the Mountains and canyons on the mainland or the historical monuments dating back to the Roman Era.

Most important attractions are:

• Nikopolis is situated near the city of Preveza. The first Roman emperor Augustus (then Octavian) founded Nikopolis to commemorate his victory at the decisive battle of Actium over Mark Anthony and Kleopatra on 2 September 31 BCE. Nikopolis actually means the City  of Victory
• Zagoria comprises many traditional villages, such as Papingo, Skamneli and Monodendri. This region has an amazing scenery full of mountains, canyons little bridges and rivers. The villages are very beautiful with a relaxed atmosphere.
• Ioannina has a islet on Lake Pamvotis. Passengers are ferried back and forth from the mainland to the island (about a 15-minute ride each way) on small motorboats which run on varying schedules, according to the season.
